Purpose and independence

This is an independent, unaffiliated fan reference archive for The Department of Truth. It is designed to help readers move between issue summaries, characters, organizations, cases, historical context, collecting records, and the series’ layered chronology.

The archive is not operated by or endorsed by Image Comics, James Tynion IV, Martin Simmonds, or any adaptation rights holder. Names, marks, and characters remain the property of their respective owners.

How records are researched

Publication facts are checked against Image Comics release pages, series listings, collection information, and the issues themselves when available. Historical context is kept separate from the comic’s fictional continuity and is linked to appropriate documentary or institutional sources.

Each record distinguishes what the comic depicts, what a character or institution claims, and what belongs to documented history. Solicitations and promotional language are treated as scheduled publication information until the publisher confirms the released issue.

Corrections and updates

A correction is made when a claim, date, credit, link, classification, or relationship can be supported by stronger evidence. Substantive changes are reflected in the record and in the site’s release and maintenance checks; a deployment date is not treated as proof that every page was newly reviewed.

When the evidence remains disputed or incomplete, the archive records the uncertainty instead of choosing a definitive explanation. This is especially important for fictionalized historical figures, competing in-universe accounts, adaptation news, and scheduled issues.

Editorial boundaries

The archive prioritizes usefulness over length. It does not add filler to reach a word count, invent credentials or authorship, present rumors as canon, or use structured data as a keyword container. Analysis is labeled as interpretation and remains distinct from plot facts and publication records.
