What this site collects
The archive does not offer accounts, comments, purchases, or a form that asks visitors to provide names, email addresses, or other direct personal information.
The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate use of public pages. Its custom measurement records the page path and content context, link type and destination host or path, and the length, word count, and broad shape of an on-site search. It does not intentionally send the raw on-site search text through those custom events.
Google Analytics and its service providers may process online identifiers and browser or device information under their own policies. Google’s explanation of how it uses data is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Analytics and your choice
The site sends one privacy-filtered page-view event per page load. It does not use the query string from the on-site search page as the page-view location, which prevents a typed search from being sent in that measurement field.
The Google Analytics library is requested after the page has loaded or when you first interact with the site, so analytics delivery does not delay the archive’s initial content.
You can disable future Google Analytics measurement below. The choice is stored only in this browser using local storage. If browser storage is blocked or cleared, the choice may need to be made again.

Security, hosting, and external links
The hosting and delivery services may use essential technical controls, including security or bot-management cookies, to protect the site and keep it available. This archive does not sell visitor information.
The homepage checks selected third-party RSS or Atom feeds on the server to identify possible news leads. Those requests are made by the site’s server, not by the visitor’s browser, and the resulting links lead to the original publisher. Once you follow an external link, that publisher’s privacy practices apply.
Corrections and policy changes
Editorial corrections are governed by the About and Corrections policy. The archive updates factual claims when stronger evidence supports a correction and labels uncertainty rather than presenting it as settled fact.
This notice will be updated when the site’s analytics, collection, or external-service practices materially change.
