The Department of Truth’s collected editions reorganize a publication history built from flashbacks, guest chapters, case files, and changing artistic registers. The first trade gathers the opening arc, while later volumes place the Department’s institutional history and the Cole–Matty conflict into larger narrative units. Deluxe editions combine multiple trades and add a different physical sense of the archive: larger pages, heavier paper, and the impression of a single classified record.
Image’s official collection list currently names seven trade volumes, The Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book One, The Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book Two, and The Department of Truth: Wild Fictions hardcover. Exact issue mapping should follow each edition’s contents page because backup stories and special material may not align with a simple numerical run.
Collected reading is not a replacement for publication order. The trades clarify arc structure; the single issues preserve the timing of revelations, guest-artist interruptions, and cover records.
Collected editions gather the same fictional stories as the single issues. Their contents and bonus material determine how a reader encounters the canon in book form.
The series’ fictional documents and case files remain claims made inside the story even when a hardcover presents them in a durable archive-like format.
Collection metadata, ISBNs, release dates, and formats are publication facts. The real-world conspiracies adapted by the comic remain separate historical subjects.
Trade volumes one through four
Volume 1, The End of the World, collects issues #1–#5 and introduces Cole Turner, the Department, Black Hat, Ruby, and the first major manifestation cases. Image lists ISBN 9781534318335. Volume 2, The City Upon a Hill, follows the next major arc and is listed with ISBN 9781534319219.

Volumes five through seven
Volume 5 is listed by Image as January 29, 2025, and Volume 6 as October 29, 2025. Volume 7 is listed for August 26, 2026. The later books cover the return to the series after its hiatus, the JFK and Ministry material, the Fort Knox archive, the new Department and White Hat conflict, Huck, Elvis, and the Florida cases.
The exact arc labels in the later books should be taken from their contents pages rather than inferred from issue numbers. A collection may place a flashback or backup in a position that supports the volume’s thematic movement instead of the strict publication sequence.
The Complete Conspiracy Deluxe
The Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book One is the first oversized hardcover collection and is listed by Image with ISBN 9781534399723. Book Two is listed for June 17, 2026. These books gather the series into larger archival objects, making it easier to compare the Department’s institutional history with Cole’s present-day investigations.
The deluxe format is especially suited to Martin Simmonds’ painted pages and the series’ case-file spreads. It also creates a collecting distinction: a reader may own the same story in a trade, a single issue, and a deluxe book while encountering different cover art, paper, and bonus material.
Wild Fictions
The Department of Truth: Wild Fictions HC is listed by Image as September 25, 2024. The collection gathers material focused on the creatures and phenomena classified by the Department as Wild Fictions. Its significance is narrative as well as physical. The book emphasizes the series’ creature cases—Bigfoot, Mothman, living dinosaurs, and other manifestations—rather than treating them as incidental details in Cole’s larger story.
A collected Wild Fictions volume should be read alongside the issue pages that establish each case. The book’s arrangement may make the creatures feel like a coherent taxonomy, but the individual stories often leave their origins and limits unresolved.
Reading through collections
Publication order is the safest complete order. Collection order is useful for arc momentum, and the deluxe books are efficient for rereading long runs. Flashbacks should remain in the position where the collection places them while their story dates are tracked separately in the timeline.
No collection should be treated as a revised historical record inside the fiction. The Department’s documents remain claims, and the physical book remains a publication object. The tension between those two kinds of archive is part of what makes the series’ collecting history meaningful.
